Hurricane Sandy

I don't know who came up with the name 'Frankenstorm' but it seems very apt as Hurricane Sandy edges its way towards the Northern coast of America.
America sees a few hurricanes but this one seems to have the potential to be as bad as it has seen according to the weathermen who seem genuinely nervous about the super storm expected to hit land tomorrow.
'This is certainly the biggest thing I’ve covered in my career' said Jim Cantore, a meteorologist at The Weather Channel and even the MET Office have been tracking it and predict the results to be severe when it reaches land and its effects will be felt for days by much of the US east coast. Severe is MET Office speak for devastating but is it really as bad as it seems?
The New York Times is warning of a possible 12 foot storm surge while the the greatest storm surge in modern American history was 10.5 feet in 1960. Massive power outages over a wide area as sustained hurricane force winds batter the North East coastline and as the storm has an extremely low pressure, 951 millibars, the storm will be long lasting.
Due to the size and potential for damage, many people will be affected, New York City has issued a mandatory evacuation for hundreds of thousands of residents. In all 60 million people are expected to be affected.
I wish them all luck. Let's just hope the casualties are low.
