Transfer Deadline Night

Andre Santos, Per Mertesacker, Chu Young Park, Mikel Arteta and Yossi Benayoun with the added bonus of Nicklas Bendtner and Armand Traore out the door.
Arsenal are back in the game although you had us doubting you for a while there AW!!
I do love transfer deadline night with the brinkmanship, the late dash for players and hearing Manchester City fell for the 'look-how-fit-i-am' video of Owen Hargreaves and signing the permanently injured midfielder. Owen meet the physio. Physio, meet Owen. I'm sure you will be seeing a lot of each other.

A friend of mine emailed me yesterday and said he thinks the Hargreaves one is a good deal, because he "is" a good player...

I asked him at what stage "is" becomes the wrong word, and "was" becomes more operative... I suspect Lord Lucan has been seen on a football field since the last time Hargreaves was...

Still, I guess if he's on a "no play no pay" deal then you can't really lose out... (and Citeh won't fritter away too much of their precious money)...

Because of the 25 players rule now and because Man City have players falling out of the eaves, someone will have to drop out for a player that has a medical record that makes al-Megrahi look healthy. They must have him on a pay per play deal and maybe they can rejig their 25 if he is out for any length of time.
Still, i did find it funny.

Your boys done well in getting Scott Parker. The player of the year for £5m, bargain and he is a decent player. Will be interesting how Adebayor gets on there, he will either do well or upset everyone.

Yes, chuffed about Parker. Some people are saying he's too old, but at 30, he could still have 3-4 top-class years ahead of him.

And Adebayor? Exactly right. He's got loads of talent but his attitude has always been questionable. And Spurs fans (like most other football fans) will forgive a player's failings much more easily if he's clearly trying (one reason why Berbatov was never much-loved, despite scoring loads of goals). It was his sulky body language. If Adebayor only turns it on once every 3 or 4 games (as is his habit), then I can't see this ending well...

Hmmm, agreeing with an Arsenal fan about football ... whatever next?... ;)

As for your lot, I think Mertesacker could prove the most useful acquisition, as that was the position that most needed strengthening, and he's top class. Arteta & Benayoun are both good players too... Wenger must have had a rush of blood to the head, getting his wallet out so gregariously!
