Hugo Is Back

Silly season turned out to be not quite so silly this year as the summer months bought us the London riots, war in Libya, Rupert Murdoch's downfall, the Norwegian massacre, slaughter in Syria, NASA closing it's doors, Greek meltdowns and the death of Amy Winehouse.
Thank you to Hanz for keeping the blog ticking over during the summer, a rich seam of stories and even the odd one where he had obviously been sniffing the high factor sun lotion like 'Why women should not run the World'.
One story that wasn't covered and gained very little coverage in the media due to the News of The World closing at the same time was the Hugo Chavez illness.
Now Mr Chavez is the kind of man that the right wing would have nothing good to say about even if he sacrificed his own life to save a drowning bag of kittens after single-handedly ending world hunger but i like him and what is so great about this story is that it bought together the two arch-enemies of those who treat Fox News as a proper, grown up news provider.
Fidel Castro has driven America nuts for decades and it was towards the bearded one that Chavez turned when he had an operation to remove a cancerous growth from his pelvis.
I am happy to report that, although visibly thinner, the treatment did not affect Chavez's ability to hold forth speeches for several hours on end and he is now back spreading his evil message of sharing, helping the poorest in society and generally giving America a kick in the swingers at every opportunity.
Big business must have been rubbing their hands at the thought of him stepping down due to health reasons but one of his first actions when coming out of hospital was to nationalise Venezuela's gold mining industry.
Welcome back Hugo and we all wish you a full recovery.

Lucy, Hanz did a nice job covering for you again! Are you sure he isn't your alter-ego or husband or something like that?

Lucy,

Since you worship this man that decides one person is too rich and another is too poor then uses force to take from one and give to others that:
- you and your husband barely have enough to eat, sleep in a shed you build from discarded boxes, and wear discarded clothing.
- you have no luxuries like electronics (you do your blogging using computers at your local local library or other free source)
- you have no excesses like perfume, makeup, etc.
- you do not have money for trips/vacation.

Why? Because there are people in the UK that are hungry and homeless and have nothing and it would be unfair for you to have more than them - I mean, a person would need an unfair advantage to have more than them. They would be the victims and you the criminal.

I’m right aren’t I? I know because you wouldn’t advocate one thing and then live another way… You wouldn’t talk about how great hugo (lower case on purpose) is then turn around and be the kind of person he despises… no, not you.

Oh wait, lefties say one thing then do another. Yeah, that’s how come when he gets sick he gets treatment in Cuba like all the sick people in Venezuela!

He is an ass and it is beyond logic that you can ignore his drastic and many faults because he abuses the wealthy in his country so that the poor will keep him in power.

One of those options is correct q but he would hate to think that he only got the job because he brings me a cup of tea in bed most mornings.

Why is it that whenever Socialism is mentioned, the right (and i do think of you as having some very right wing leanings) straight away have to say how it will drag things down to a low level. The whole point of the thing is to drag the bottom up so nobody is living in cardboard boxed or starving. Socialism is all about evening things out so you don't have the extremes at either end.

Anyone who sets out to accomplish that is worthy of praise and anyone out to deny it is worthy of scorn. Agree?

Lucy, try as you will, be it even a thousand years, Q is beyond redemption, his indoctrination cup runneth over!

Even if you shook him or subjected him to electric shocks or kicked him in the 'you know whats', he will never change. And keep in mind there are millions more just like him, nearly 300 million in fact.

Glad to see you back and kicking things off with such a great post!

Thank you David, it is always the same thing with people set against Socialism that they see it as busting everyone down rather than lifting the majority up. I struggle to understand just what they don't see why that as a worthy thing. A legacy of all that anti-Communism stuff from the cold war perhaps?

Lucy,

First, of course I'm far right when it comes to my views on the role of government. Less is better. Being trod on by a powerful group whether they are a rich minority with influence or a poor majority with more votes isn't any better than being trod on by a single dictator (like hugo).

By the way, America has a heavy dose of socialism: Half of Americans work for the government. The data is in black and white on the US Dept of Labor web site.

I’m just as extreme to the left however when it comes to personal freedoms. People should be able to do anything they want, until they affect other people.

When people decide to pass on an education, or don’t take care of their health, or break the law, or do anything that results in financial, relationship, physical health, or mental health problems then they should have the freedom to suffer the consequences. Likewise, other people should have the freedom to offer them aid – which I do with my personal charitable cash contributions and my personal time on mission trips.

I do not want the government taking money from me by force to help others that made bad choices. Especially since the government tends to waste the money on red tape – and why not be flippant with it, they didn’t work for the money.

The best recent example I can think of is health in America. It is amazing how many fat people there are now. Look at photos from the 70’s and compare them to photos today. We took a family trip to Florida and the women are freaking huge as whales. I noticed that the only trim women were girls (under 20). Here in Texas almost all of the women, especially the Latinos, are grossly fat.

These people are going to have serious health problems because they don’t eat a healthy diet and they don’t exercise – their choice. But guess who will have to pay for “their” health care. IT FREAKING IRKS ME.

Concerning David’s comment about me (note he continues with the personal attacks even though I haven’t done it to him in a long while – are you sure this is the type of person that knows what the new world should look like); WHY AM I UNENLIGHTENED BECAUSE I WANT PEOPLE TO MAKE THEIR OWN DECISIONS, AND SUFFER THE APPROPRIATE CONSEQUENCES?

Mind you, I didn’t say I’m against help orphans, old people, public education, some public health care, some public infrastructure, etc.
